About This Service

The Advocacy Department helps clients with life matters that may not line up specifically with another agency service. Many clients that have used Advocacy services for help in most every area of their lives.

In addition to helping our clients access health insurance benefits, we can provide assistance with navigating government entitlement and benefits programs including social security, public housing, and food and nutrition. In addition, our staff can liaison with case managers at other agencies and organizations where our clients might need services and help them navigate any issues that they might be experiencing.

Yes, you need to be a client of GMHC to access our Advocacy services.

The first step is to meet with an intake specialist. Walk-in appointments are available Tuesday-Thursday, 9:30 am-4:30 pm. Monday and Friday hours are by appointment only. You can make an appointment by calling 212-367-1057 or emailing intake@gmhc.org.

Yes, our services have different eligibility requirements. An intake specialist can help you understand requirements for our different services.
