Beginning August 19, the Testing Center's new location will better integrate the agency's HIV and STI testing and PrEP/PEP services with GMHC's suite of comprehensive services for HIV-negative and HIV-positive people

New York, NY–Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) is excited to announce that the GMHC Testing Center will move from its current location at 224 West 29th Street into the organization's main offices at 307 West 38th Street, helping to more closely integrate all of the agency's services under one roof.

The Testing Center's last day on 29th Street will be Wednesday, August 14. It will officially reopen on the third floor of GMHC's headquarters on Monday, August 19.

Founded in 1997, the Testing Center is home to GMHC's free and confidential HIV, HCV, and other STI counseling and testing, PrEP/PEP services, outreach, and health education services. After originally being housed in an earlier GMHC headquarters, the Testing Center has been operating at its 29th Street location for nearly a decade and conducts more than 4,000 HIV tests annually.

By rejoining GMHC's main location, the Testing Center will become more closely integrated into the GMHC community in a building that serves clients every day with a wide range of HIV/AIDS services and programs. With this new setup, one floor away from GMHC's Intake Department, clients who test positive for HIV can more immediately connect to care services, and clients who test negative for HIV can more efficiently be linked to GMHC's suite of prevention-focused services.

"One of the benefits of our headquarters' location is that we now have the space to serve the needs of all of our clients at once," said GMHC CEO Kelsey Louie. "By relocating the Testing Center, we are reuniting all of our services into one home so that GMHC can operate even more holistically. Plus, we are still close to medical providers and pharmacies with which we partner, helping to ensure that all of our clients have access to the health care they need and deserve."

GMHC's headquarters are centrally located in Midtown Manhattan, close to many subway lines and easily accessible to clients throughout New York City. GMHC moved into this new location in July 2018. The location currently houses services that include HIV prevention programming, hunger relief, supportive housing, legal counseling, workforce development, mental health and substance use counseling, and more.
