Hotline Call Center Volunteer

Hotline Volunteers provide information and referral services regarding HIV and AIDS and GMHC programs and services to the general public who contact the GMHC Hotline by telephone and email. Volunteers need to be able to respond to a diverse group of callers with diverse needs, and to stay informed about latest HIV/AIDS developments as well as GMHC policies and protocols. Bilingual Spanish/English a plus. There is a critical need for daytime, weekday availability (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).

Call and emails to the GMHC Hotline could include topics such as:

  • Concerns about HIV and AIDS Hotline
  • Questions about HIV transmission and prevention
  • Referrals to HIV/STI testing
  • Connection to care
  • Information about GMHC services
  • How to become a GMHC client

In addition to their agreed upon volunteer shift, Hotline Volunteers will attend monthly volunteer meetings Hotline Supervisors to discuss the volunteer experience, Hotline operations and any other issues that arise as matters of interest by the Hotline Volunteer/Staff Team.

The next Hotline Volunteer Trainings will be held in the Fall of 2013.
