PROTECT RYAN WHITE HIV FUNDING
SIGN A LETTER TO SENATOR CLINTON
Congress and the President are deliberating on the Ryan White CARE
Act, and the results could devastate funding for HIV services in New York.
The President has called for drastic revisions to the way the CARE Act
functions. These proposals have the potential to be very damaging and
could destabilize the systems of HIV care in several cities and states,
including New York. About $2 million in services at GMHC may be at stake
if the President's proposals are implemented.
Please participate in our effort to send letters to Senator Clinton. We
are asking her to take leadership in challenging the President's
proposals ensuring the Ryan White CARE Act is reauthorized with
out devastating changes.

GMHC lead a New York community sign on letter outlining concerns about
Bush's Ryan White reauthorization principles. The
final sign on letter was
an overwhelming success, with support from over 180 community based organizations
and governmental entities. In fact, our
community sign on letter lead the way for similar letters from the
NYS delegations of the
House and
Senate that echoed concerns about Ryan White CARE Act reauthorization
principles. Although we are united within New York State, much work still needs to
be done to carry our message forward nationally.
