The Public Policy Department is an aggressive advocate, at the city,
state, and federal levels, for fair and effective HIV and AIDS-related
policies.
The Public Policy Department:
- Monitors and analyzes HIV/AIDS issues and developing public
policy positions.
- Directly influences executive and legislative government policies
and procedures.
- Leads HIV/AIDS community coalitions.
- Mobilizes the community to help shape public policy.
- Raises awareness in the HIV/AIDS community by disseminating
information on the positions of public officials and candidates
for elected office.
Through its public policy efforts, GMHC keeps HIV prevention,
treatment and care, and a cure for HIV urgent global, national,
and local priorities.
