Launch of New Exhibition "AIDS Walk New York, 25 Years of AIDS Activism"

Design Firm "Production 911" Creates and Donates Innovative and Reflective Visual Presentation to Honor World's Largest AIDS Fundraising Event
4.30.2010

New York, NY — To commemorate the 25th annual AIDS Walk New York (AWNY), public exhibits will be erected at the Time Warner Center and the Port Authority Bus Terminal.  Photographs, images, and stories will highlight both joyful and somber moments from the past quarter-century of AIDS Walk New York events.  Launched in 1986 in Damrosch Park at Lincoln Center, AWNY, benefiting GMHC and other AIDS service organizations in the tri-state area, has since become the world's largest AIDS fundraising event.  This year an estimated 45,000 people will be walking the 10-kilometer route beginning and ending in Central Park.

The exhibits will be on view beginning May 5 and will conclude on the day of AIDS Walk New York, Sunday, May 16.

The custom events design firm Production 911 has generously created and built the installations to honor this vibrant public/private partnership.

Exhibition Locations and Schedules:

Port Authority Bus Terminal (Lobby off of 8th Ave between 40th/41st):     May 5 - May 16
Time Warner Center (Ground Floor of The Shops at Columbus Cir.):      May 6 - May 16

Other visual presentations can be seen at: Chelsea Market's Wishing Well, where tossed coins will be donated to AWNY; Macy's Herald Square, which will decorate one of their famous windows with AWNY memorabilia; and the Retail Shops at 620 6th Avenue, which will display multiple large banners and posters in their high traffic lobby.
