GMHC Hosts Screening of "Sex in an Epidemic"

What:

Sex in an Epidemic is a 70-minute groundbreaking documentary which explores the personal, political and structural challenges that have continually hampered the best efforts of HIV educators and community groups to curb HIV infection rates in the United States.  The documentary provides a sociocultural perspective on the history of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and its ongoing impact on the most effected populations including the gay, African American and Latino communities.

Why:

August 11, 1981 marks the founding meeting of Gay Men's Health Crisis.  In commemoration of this historic meeting, GMHC is hosting a screening of Sex in an Epidemic which includes early footage of interviews with Larry Mass, MD and Larry Kramer, two of GMHC's founders, and Rodger McFarlane, GMHC's first paid Executive Director, and the first-ever safer sex materials and videos.

Interviews and photo opportunities with the film's director and GMHC's CEO will be available.
