GMHC mourns the loss of Dennis deLeon

Dennis was a member of the GMHC Board of Directors from 1993 to 2000 while serving as the Executive Director of Latino Commission on AIDS (LCOA) until his death.  He was also one of the first NYC government officials to share openly about his HIV status in the early 90s.  Throughout the years, GMHC continued to partner with him and LCOA on many conferences, projects that addressed advocacy issues, and related events.
 
He was a tireless activist who fought for the rights of people living with HIV and AIDS — particularly those in the Latino community — and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.  We will miss his tenacity and courage.  Our tender thoughts go out to his partner, Bruce Kiernan, his parents and siblings.
