New York, NY — GMHC, the oldest HIV/AIDS service organization in the world, announces that Mickey Rolfe has been appointed as Co-Chair of the Board of Directors, and Jeffrey G. Davis, Michael C. Harwood and Tyler Helms have been appointed as Members of the Board of Directors. Mickey will join Matthew L. Moore, the current Co-Chair.
Since 1993 Mickey Rolfe has been the owner and President of The Rolfe Company, Inc., NYC's exclusive theatrical design representation firm. The Company represents approximately 40 set, costume, lighting, sound, projections, and hair and wig designers in theatre, opera and ballet on Broadway, across the USA, and internationally. The Company boasts 15 Tony Award wins and has designs in the majority of plays and musicals currently running on Broadway and in the upcoming season. Beginning in 1988 Mickey, more formally known as Myron Sulzberger Rolfe, has had the privilege of being the President of his family's charitable giving organization, the Edward Sulzberger Foundation, Inc., begun by and named for his late grandfather. Among the causes supported by him through the Foundation are those pertaining to the quality of life in New York City, gay equality and health issues, underserved youth, as well as arts and cultural institutions. Mickey, a native New Yorker, is a graduate of Brown University. In 2008 he married his domestic partner of then-28 years, Bruce Tracy, a Senior Editor at Workman Publishing Company. They have homes in Manhattan and Fire Island Pines, NY.
Jeffrey G. Davis is a Managing Director and Head of Equities Business and Market Strategy globally at Barclays Capital. Based in New York, Jeff has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. He is a member of the Equities Management Committee, a member of the firm's Global Diversity Council and the Americas Charities Committee. Jeff joined Barclays Capital in September 2008 from Lehman Brothers where he held a similar role. Previously, Jeff was an Operating Executive and Division President of Dow Jones & Company, and an Executive Vice President and General Manager at CBS MarketWatch, Inc. Jeff is Chairman of the Board of Road Scholar. He has an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business and a BA in Political Science from Miami University.
Michael C. Harwood, Esq. is a Partner of Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman LLP. His practice focuses on securities and complex commercial litigation, including disputes concerning bankrupt and financially distressed entities. Michael has represented large investment companies, including hedge funds, high-yield investors, and major banks in claims for trustee, attorney, and accounting malpractice, fraud, and breach of contract. Michael has a BS from University of Michigan and a JD, cum laude, from Albany Law School. He was admitted to the New York Bar in 1983 and U.S. Supreme Court in 2007.
A former television news journalist turned award-winning advertising executive, Tyler Helms has built a successful career in communications that brought him to New York City in 2006. For over 6 years he has worked with Deutsch Inc., where today he is the Senior Vice President & Group Account Director. Tyler manages the agency's relationship with Unilever North American, Sinovian Pharmaceutical's "Lunesta" and The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. In 2010, his work on Kodak's Print and Prosper campaign helped secure a Silver Effie for the agency and remains one of Kodak's most successful campaigns in recent years. Outside of the office Tyler is a published writer, advocate and public voice in the ongoing effort to raise awareness, education and prevention of HIV/AIDS. Since 2009, Tyler has discussed candidly and publically how the illness has impacted his life. His column "Living the Questions" is featured online at TheAdvocate.com, the printed and online editions of HIV Plus Magazine and other online publications. His perspective, advice and personal story have been featured in numerous industry trades, radio shows and in speeches he has given. His own diagnosis in 2007 and public disclosure in 2009 serve as the catalyst for his involvement and advocacy in the HIV/AIDS community.
