About the presenter: A gay man living with HIV since 1995, Jim Pickett is Director of Prevention Advocacy and Gay Men's Health at AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC). He is the Chair of IRMA, International Rectal Microbicide Advocates, an AFC-based network of more than 1,200 advocates, scientists, policy makers and funders in support of the research and development of safe, effective, acceptable and accessible rectal microbicides. POZ Magazine has honored his efforts in 2010, 2011 and 2012 by including him in the magazine's "Top 100" lists as a "soldier... instrumental in fighting for much-needed new prevention methods [and] undeterred by subjects many would prefer to ignore." In 2005, he was inducted into Chicago's Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame by Mayor Richard M. Daley, and has run four marathons to raise money for HIV/AIDS prevention and care programs. The discussion is free and open to the general public. Light refreshments will be provided. To RSVP, call (212) 367-1016 or e-mail krishnas@gmhc.org.
