HIV is Ageless

The campaign reminds people that "regardless of age, people can be at risk for HIV if they have unprotected sex or share needles." The images reflect the diversity of women and men in terms of age, race and culture.

• Over 1 in 6 of all new HIV infections are in people over the age of 50 (PDF)
• Over 1 in 4 of all new HIV infections are in women (PDF)
• Over 1 in 5 of all new HIV infections are in people under the age of 25 (PDF)

GMHC offers free, confidential HIV testing and counseling.

First Ladies Care

The HIV/AIDS awareness campaign, First Ladies Care, targets black churches and features images of the wives and/or female leadership on fans, with messages that urge women and men in the congregation to support each other to talk more about HIV prevention, testing and safer sex.  First Baptist Church of Crown Heights, Brooklyn is the first in the campaign and First Lady, Mrs. Ellen Norman, is the first spokesmodel.  Typically, a First Lady is the wife of a senior pastor (or the head of a church). The First Ladies may also oversee ministries, host fundraisers, teach classes, and have other duties. Their role and leadership is highly respected within a church community. Read More >>>
