Do you have support groups for people who aren't gay?
Question
I have a question. I am HIV plus, but am not gay. Are there any
support groups for people like myself?
Answer
Thanks for your email. There are support services available for
people who are HIV-positive regardless of sexual orientation or
gender. You didn't mention where you are or what concerns are going
on. For example, here at GMHC in New York City, we have a Group
Services unit with support groups for women, for men, and on specific
HIV-related topics. You can call them at 212-367-1144 to find out
more about how to participate.
In New York, Body Positive also has support groups throughout
the area, and you can reach them at 800-566-6599 to find times
and locations. More and more support is becoming available for
different issues related to living with HIV. Please feel free to
call our Hotline if you want to talk to someone further or for
more information. You can reach us at 212-807-6655 or 800-243-7692.
Take care,
