GMHC - Fight Aids. Love Life.

Hotline

The GMHC Hotline continues to serve the community and its members, by providing pertinent information on issues of HIV prevention, transmission and connection to care.

Below are some of the most common topics discussed with our callers:

  • Concerns about HIV/AIDS
  • Questions about HIV transmission
  • Referrals to HIV/STI testing
  • Connection to care
  • Information about GMHC services
  • How to become a GMHC client

The Hotline is staffed by well-trained volunteer peer-counselors who provide accurate HIV related information while educating our callers, about all other services available to them through GMHC as well as through other referrals.

All of our calls are anonymous which allows both frequent and more importantly first time callers a protected environment in which they can address their concerns, while receiving up-to-date information and support.

Our local telephone number is 212.807.6655
Or you can call us toll free at 800.243.7692

Hotline Hours are:
Wednesday 10 am – 6pm

Please note that the Hotline is closed Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

The Hotline E-Mail program was implemented in an effort to further accommodate those who may prefer expressing their thoughts and concerns in writing.
On average a total of 50-60 e-mails are received per month.  Some of the e-mail topics include:

  • HIV testing
  • Sexually transmitted infections (STI)
  • Post exposure prophylaxis (PEP)
  • Support groups (newly diagnosed, bereavement and caregiver)
  • Mental health counseling

If you have any questions regarding GMHC services and support, you can send us an e-mail us at Hotline@gmhc.org.
