AIDS Walk 2010

NEW YORK COMMEMORATES WORLD’S LARGEST
HIV/AIDS FUNDRAISING EVENT

REGISTER NOW!

This year marks the 25th year of AIDS Walk New York, the east coast’s first and the world’s largest such event. On Sunday, May 16, 2010, an expected 45,000 walkers will gather in Central Park and embark on the 10k route. The event will raise vital funds for GMHC and dozens of local AIDS service organizations in the tri-state area.

AIDS Walk New York’s new marketing campaign acknowledges this milestone as it reinvigorates the public’s attention to the HIV/AIDS crisis, promotes awareness and dialog, and commemorates the role and power of the individual within the AIDS Walk movement. Under the heading “I Walk…”, the artwork features photographs of a spectrum of New Yorkers wearing white t-shirts with sayings that illustrate each of their personal relationships with the HIV/AIDS crisis in the tri-state area. AIDS Walk New York is one of the largest, most diverse, and highly anticipated annual events in New York City. Last year, a record-setting crowd of 45,000 walkers and 2,500 volunteers raised $5.6 million for HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and advocacy programs. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $110 million dollars to fight AIDS in the tri-state area, and the AIDS Walk movement has raised more than a half-billion dollars nationwide.

The 10k (6.2 mile) AIDS Walk route begins and ends in Central Park.
