On the Eve of World AIDS Day: Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise.
Sunday, November 30, 5 pm – 7 pm
Riverside Church, 120th Street and Riverside Drive, NYC

A gathering including Bill McCreary, Rev. Dr. Brad Braxton, Speaker Christine Quinn, Dr. Monica Sweeney, Princess Zulu, Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, Bertil Linblad, Pernessa Seele, Marie St. Cyr, Vanessa Brocato, Suki Ports, Rev. Dr. Calvin Butts, Michele Lopez; and GMHC staff members—Ashley Bloomer Darrell Canty, Andrew Frazier, Krishna Stone. Musical performances by Ebony Ross and the Lavender Light Gospel Choir. Community tabling and refreshments will follow after the program. Wheelchair accessible.

& 11 am – 3 pm, Borough of Manhattan Community College, 199 Chambers Street, NYC

The David Geffen Center for HIV Prevention and Health Education will be offering free, confidential rapid HIV testing with same-day results*—Testing will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and will be limited to capacity. *Some results may require further testing.


AIDS: Our Celebration of Life: Remembering those who have passed; Rejoicing in our lives today; Renewing our commitment to take action
Monday, December 1, 3 pm – 4:30 pm, 4th floor
This annual, non-denominational/non-traditional service is a time for remembering those who have passed from HIV/AIDS and an opportunity to rejoice in those who are living with HIV/AIDS. Reception follows after service. Hosted by GMHC's Consumer Advisory Board. Co-hosted by the Volunteer, Work & Wellness Center.


Out of the Darkness: World AIDS Day Candlelight Vigil & Gathering
Monday, December 1, 6 pm, Lobby of GMHC &
7 pm, Judson Memorial Church, 55 Washington Square South at Thompson Square South, NYC

At 6 pm, a candlelight vigil will start from the lobby of GMHC and proceed to Judson Memorial Church for a gathering at 7 pm including Brent Nicholson Earle, Frank Spinelli, MD, Jeff Bosacki, Reverend James Campbell, Reverend Alicia Heath-Toby, Timothy Lunceford, Reverend Stacey Latimer, Krishna Stone, Claire Simon, Francisco Roque, Reverend Pat Bumgardner, John Canelli, dancers, fanners/flaggers and youth. Musical performances by Deni Bonet, Nhojj, Dawn Tallman. There will also be blessings of safer sex kits. Community tabling and refreshments will follow after the program. ASL Interpreters and wheelchair accessible. The events are sponsored by AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power, The American Run for the End of AIDS, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, End AIDS Now, Gay Men's Health Crisis, International AIDS Prevention Initiative, Keith Haring Foundation, LIFEbeat.


Garment & Art: An Exhibition and Reception Commemorating 20 Years of World AIDS Day
Monday, December 1, 6 pm – 8 pm
LIM, College for the Business of Fashion, 12 East 53rd Street, NYC
The event consists of a competition for the design of an HIV and AIDS message through a garment or visual art work. Prizes will be awarded to the best designs. To participate in the contest, contact Monanlall Teloki at (212) 752-1530, ext. 240 or send an e-mail to mteloki@limcollege.edu. Community information and refreshments will be provided. Photo ID required for entry. Co-hosted by the Institute for Gay Men's Health at GMHC.

Seen, But Not Heard: Screening of Film by Cyrille Phipps and Discussion on Black Women and HIV/AIDS in the United States
Wednesday, December 3, 8 pm – 10 pm
Room 204, Warren Hall, Columbia University, 115th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, NYC

The discussion will include Cyrille Phipps, filmmaker, Claire Simon, Women's HIV/AIDS Collaborative of New York and Kimberleigh Smith, GMHC's Women's Institute and other community AIDS activists. Refreshments to follow after the program. The event is hosted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Rho Chapter and North American Alumnae Chapter. Wrap & Rap with GMHC and Barnes & Noble (new location!!)
From Monday, December 8 to Wednesday, December 24

Volunteers will launch the 15th year of the annual community outreach/fundraising effort at the new Tribeca store by wrapping gifts, encouraging shoppers to take agency literature, and receiving donations that benefit the agency's services and programs. WORLD AIDS DAY HONORS!
GMHC and our CEO, Marjorie J. Hill, PhD, are being honored by three organizations: Black AIDS Institute on December 1, St. Vincent's Medical Center (150th Anniversary) on December 2 and Stonewall Foundation on December 5.
