Andrew Buckler
Buckler is a cult menswear line. Roguish American icons melded with Brit edge is the look and style that epitomizes the label. Andrew Buckler leads through his unique design and looks to break traditional menswear barriers. Buckler is worn by such personalities as Motley Crue's Tommy Lee, Iggy Pop, The Rolling Stones, Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol, Liam Gallagher and Giovanni Ribisi to name a few.
In 2001, Andrew launched his own menswear line "Buckler." The aesthetic was his own: Englishman in New York, a fusion of men's designer clothing and denim. A rugged, masculine, and sexy look highlighted by unique tailored fits using quality textiles from the U.S. and Italy.
Buckler's launch in the U.K. for early Autumn/winter 2002 proved extremely popular with U.K. buyers and now sells in London at Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and Jones. Buckler also sells in Paris, Japan, and Canada.
On April 12th, 2005, he opened his first flagship store in the hip "Meatpacking District," in New York City, home to trendy establishments such as Soho House, The Gansevoort Hotel, and designer retailers such as Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, and Jeffrey. Buckler, at 13 Gansevoort St. is the subterranean home of the designer's brand, design studio, and showroom. With a small tight knit team, Andrew executes his vision: A rockin' brand for "blokes."
His background consists of a Masters in Art from The Royal College of Art, a Senior Design position at Emanuel Ungaro, Emanuel, part of the Italian group GFT SRL, and Head of Menswear Design at DarylK, where he successfully launched their menswear line and K189 (the diffusion jeans line).
Developing as an international name, Buckler continues to be an innovative menswear company collaborating with names like Luigi Borelli on italian custom made-to-measure custom dress shirts and Head Porter on new fabrications in Japanese denim. Andrew is very hands-on with all aspects of design...simultaneously creating a unique downtown space to display for the American market.
