The ceremony on May 7th, ten days prior to AIDS Walk New York, will recognize this year's record-breaking support from the business community. The ceremony also serves to remind corporate America, locally and nationally, that it must play an important role in combating AIDS. "The NYSE-Euronext Closing Bell Ceremony will not only recognize the outstanding support from the New York business community, but will also bring attention to the AIDS Walk, the ongoing AIDS crisis, and the critical work of GMHC," said Frank Dix, Business Process Manager for NYSE and member of GMHC's board of directors.
"It's wonderful to see that, in spite of the global recession, these New York corporate leaders remain committed to helping those struggling with HIV/AIDS, and preventing new infections here in the tri-state area" said Dr. Marjorie J. Hill, Chief Executive Officer of GMHC, the world's first AIDS organization and AWNY's primary beneficiary.
"This ceremony serves to highlight that, despite these tough times, GMHC and the AIDS Walk still have the capacity to inspire generosity; to motivate the public; and to lead," said Craig R. Miller, President of MZA Events and the Founder and Producer of AIDS Walk New York.
