Soul Food

Soul Food is a health and wellness promotion program for men of African ancestry who practice same sex desire. Soul Food is committed to keeping same-gender-loving men of African ancestry alive and healthy.

Soul Food was born out of the Gay Men of Color Discussion Group held at the Gay Men's Health Crisis in the late 80's. In order to decrease HIV infection rates among gay men of color, we believe in the need to provide them with education and information as well as an opportunity to talk openly about their sexual behavior.

Soul- In the African-American community refers to our wholeness, which includes sexual identity, sexual expression, and gender construction.

Food -Speaks to the general need for sustenance. Food includes life-affirming information and resources that will reduce HIV infection rates in the community.

Soul Food speaks of how Black gay and non gay identified men interact with each other.
