   Our Mission

The Institute for Gay Men's Health (IGMH) is committed to HIV prevention in the context of wellness among gay men, men who have sex with men (MSM) and their affiliated communities.  Addressing a multiplicity of health issues and social contexts, IGMH embraces a broader health agenda through HIV and STI prevention services, leadership development, community-building, education, and community-based research.

Using multifaceted approaches IGMH works to shift social norms, effect behavior change, and increase knowledge among populations disproportionately affected by HIV and AIDS. In addition to our community-based research and social marketing efforts IGMH prioritizes young MSM and trans-women of color through population specific programs such as Anti-Stigma Awareness Project (ASAP), House of Latex Project (HOL), Raw Cut Productions, MySexyCity.com, and Role-models Educating All Labels (4REAL).

The social marketing campaigns and community events developed at IGMH are framed in a language of love, desire, connection, intimacy and pleasure and focus upon the positive aspects, resources, resiliencies and strengths within individuals and communities. Over all, IGMH addresses HIV risk in its interpersonal and sexual contexts while addressing broader cultural forces such as homophobia, racism, stigma, violence, sexism, gender role expectations, addiction, isolation and poverty.
