The Action Center is the heart of GMHC’s commitment to empower people living with HIV to demand real change.  Located on the 12th floor of GMHC, it’s a center for community organizing, lobbying, advocacy and for building the leadership and skills of clients and volunteers.  Join us in building movements to fight back on issues that affect us all!  Your help is crucial for our work.  Check out our upcoming events below. Upcoming Events at the Action Center:

All events take place at the GMHC Action Center, 12th floor, unless otherwise noted. Metrocards provided for all events.

November 2009

To accommodate the size of the groups, they will each meet in different rooms. You can check the door of the Action Center, Room 1200, for a calendar or special announcements. Metrocards provided for all events.

Mondays, November 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

Women of the Action Center Group Meeting These meetings will provide information about how HIV/AIDS policies are affecting women today. Not only will these meetings be informational, but they will also discuss steps on how to take action. These meetings are open to all women that are GMHC clients. Housing Advocacy Action Group
These meetings are intended to inform GMHC clients about housing issues for low-income HIV+ individuals. For example these meetings will focus on the 30% rent cap, HASA, Scatter Site and SRO housing. Action Drop-In Group Meeting
These meetings are intended to inform GMHC clients about the latest in HIV and AIDS policy at the city, state and federal levels, to discuss the issues and to take action!
