The
GMHC Hotline: responds to over 35,000 phone calls and
Internet requests yearly in both Spanish and English with accurate
information, emotional support, and an expansive referral service
that includes over 10,000 service providers. You can contact the
Hotline via our local number, 1-800 number, or email address six
days a week.
The A-Team:
is a one-of-a-kind face-to-face on-site crisis intervention service
available on a walk-in basis, five days a week, nine hours a day.
The David
Geffen Center for HIV Prevention and Health Education:
combines a highly successful HIV, Syphillis, and Hepatitis C testing
and counseling program with follow-up and immediate connection to
care. The Geffen Testing Center's services are available during
walk-in hours or by appointment. HIV tests are blood or saliva based,
offered on a sliding fee scale, and results are available after
twenty minutes or the more traditional week-long waiting period.
For HIV-positive clients, The Geffen Center also offers ways to
maximize health and well-being through accurate and up-to-date treatment
information, an extensive on-site library, one-on-one adherence
support, nutrition counseling, and complementary therapies like
reiki and acupuncture.
Women and Family
Services: addresses the full range of issues facing
women and families at risk for, or living with, HIV and AIDS. Services
include substance use counseling, nutritional and legal workshops,
support groups, crisis intervention, a food pantry, and child sitting.
Lesbian AIDS
Project: provides support services, peer education,
and HIV prevention for lesbians living with HIV and AIDS in both
Spanish and English.
The Institute
for Gay Men's Health: uses ground-breaking community-specific
outreach to connect gay and bisexual men with safer sex education,
substance use counseling, and social support. Peer HIV prevention
and outreach groups for gay men, Latinos, black men, young men,
and transgendered youth are available.
Group
and Mental Health Services: are available for HIV-positive
clients as well as their caregivers and partners in long-term group
settings or in shorter-term assessments for outside referral.
Meals
Program: GMHC's most popular service provides over
300 nutritious and delicious meals five days a week in the spacious
and friendly Peter Krueger Dining Room.
Legal Services:
addressing issues of discrimination, employment, bankruptcy, housing,
family law, child placement, immigration, and accessing benefits
and entitlements are available during walk-in hours on-site and
at satellite locations around New York City.
Client
Advocacy: assists clients in navigating their HIV public
benefits and health insurance.

Volunteer and Work Center: trains and supports thousands
of volunteers and interns in the fight against AIDS. The Center
also assists never-, under-, or un-employed clients transition into
work.
Public Policy:
advocates for fair and effective AIDS policies at all levels
of government and provides numerous opportunities for grassroots
activism.
Treatment and Prevention Advocacy: focuses the
agency's advocacy efforts on the development of new, better, and
less expensive methods for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment
of HIV and AIDS. It also publishes an internationally-recognized
monthly newsletter,
Treatment Issues, which reports on the latest medical
and scientific information in HIV and AIDS policy and care.
